Welcome to our sixth kitchen makeover in the series
.
Welcome to another one of our favourites, this kitchen makeover was completed for Margaret Jasem from the Bellshill area just outside Glasgow.
From a tired and dated looking kitchen with free standing appliances…
…To a timeless painted shaker with timber worktops.
This kitchen transformation was completed in only 4 days from start to finish.
It’s a great example of just what can be done in a short space of time with a bit of creative flair and imagination.
Check out the walk-through tour, project pictures and have a listen to our interview with our customer Margaret in the video’s below.

Margaret had been following us on Facebook for a long time and asked the same question.
Our answer: It depends…
It’s a frustrating answer, we know.
And, not one that Margaret wanted to hear as her bathroom project (completed last year by a different company) had taken over three weeks.
With the kitchen being a much bigger project, this was really putting Margaret off going for her new kitchen.
More important to us than how quickly can your kitchen be installed, for us
it’s ALWAYS about….
Getting the design right first time.
The attention to detail.
Leaving you delighted and with a kitchen to be proud of.
If we can do all of the above and complete your kitchen within the week then we know you will be delighted. And, on that note take a look at the review and project pictures below.
If you have a look at the old kitchen design you’ll see not much thought was given to the appliances. The fridge freezer and tumble dryer have been tucked in to the design like an afterthought.
There is no ‘pan drawers’, lots of ‘dead’ space in the corners.
It’s an off the shelf DIY kitchen too with standard depth units. You’ll spot this as the the free-standing washing machine sticks out further than the rest of the base units.
For the most practical kitchen design we would suggest you work within the ‘triangle’…
The main tasks in the kitchen are carried out between the hob, the sink and the fridge. If you imagine a line running between these three points then you’ve got the ‘triangle’.
The idea is to keep these area’s close (but not too close) to one another. If you can do this then the kitchen will be easy and practical to use, cutting down on wasted steps too :-))
Then choose an oven and combination microwave, as this will allow for 2 ovens to be cooking at the same time. Perfect for the Christmas parties!
By integrating your microwave, you’ll also free up more working space on your worktops.
Here, we even managed to get two deep drawers below for storing your pots and pans too, lovely
Make sure you get a deep drawer stack built into your kitchen design.
Drawers work much better for pot’s and pans and will make reaching the back of the cupboards much easier when cooking.
And, If you really want your kitchen to be special then choose an induction hob like our customer Margaret did.
If you really want to open up your space then there is an abundance of clever storage options available.
Here we added soft closing corner storage mechanisms into the design allowing easy access to those awkward areas which are hard to get too.
Everything is practical and easy to reach, just the way we like it here at My Beautiful Kitchen.
There is nothing more frustrating than walking to the other side of the kitchen – and then reaching into the back of a cabinet to get your pots.
If you want to make life in the kitchen that little bit easier then design a drawer stack below your hob.
A fitted cutlery drawer at the top ensures everything has a place, and deep drawers at the bottom means easy access to pots and pans.
If you have the room for it then a separate dinning area makes a lot of sense.
This was a priority for our customer and we completed the look with a traditional table and chairs.
We absolutely love how this makeover turned out, the customers own flooring was kept but we think it worked out beautifully don’t you agree?
All done, another kitchen, another happy customer and a great effort all round, brilliant.
Hope you like it.
