Welcome to our fourth kitchen makeover in the series
.
We get a lot of questions about what can – and can’t – be done with a small kitchen.
Well, that’s the subject of today’s makeover video I’ve shared 8 tops tips below to make your small kitchen super cool.
Our customers Mags and Jean Lucas have a really small kitchen. With the old design, it was cramped and had virtually no worktop space.
As well as creating a snazzy two-tone modern design, we were able to greatly increase the worktop space and storage. And that made it far more enjoyable to cook in.
But, don’t take our word for it. Enjoy the video walk-through and take a look at the project pictures below.

If you want to make a small kitchen really pop then choose two different colours like we did here for Jean & Mags.
Using two contrasting kitchen door colours can be a real talking point and you can be sure not many of your friends will have this.
If you want to be extra cool then create a focal point in the design.
For this one we made the cooking area the feature and kept it symmetrical with even sized units either side.
Why not do away with your extractor and add in extra cupboard space above your cooking area?
For gas appliances an extractor is a legal requirement. With most people moving towards induction cooking technology an extractor comes down to personal preference.
By installing storage mechanisms you can make the awkward areas in your kitchen really easy to get too.
In this design you’ll see we used the most of every inch of storage with no dead space.
Small details count…
Upgrading your hob to touch control or your stainless steel sink to composite is going to make it look expensive and give your kitchen a quality feel.
Make your kitchen units pop with a contrasting splash-back.
Our customer couldn’t decide on mosaics or glass, our suggestion was why not have both. End result is a happy customer.
If you really want to open up your space…
Then choose corner wall units which allows you to access those areas which are hard to get too.
You really can’t have too much lighting.
Here we added feature lights under the wall cupboards and designer down-lights to the ceiling giving a good spread of light around the room.
