The Wylie family’s kitchen was a narrow space, one that they had tried to make the most out of by using light wood paneling and white walls. However, opening up a space like this can prove tricky.

Thankfully, the experienced team at My Beautiful Kitchen new just what was needed to enliven this kitchen and remove the ‘corridor effect’ created by the small space.

A stunning shaker kitchen was chosen to bring some warmth to the room and make it a little more inviting. The My Beautiful Kitchen team took care of the entire design from start to finish.

The dark work surfaces and floors of the previous kitchen made the room feel dark and gloomy. To warm up the space, Egger Walnut Block 40mm matt finish worktops were chosen, with Pergo Italian Walnut Professional Laminate Flooring to match the warmth of the wood.

This really complimented the light colour of the shaker kitchen units, and brought the whole room to life. As well as this, the old-fashioned curved drawer and cupboard handles were replaced with sleek and modern T-bar handles.

Aside from the kitchen units and work surfaces, the sink got a makeover too. The team replaced the old one with a lustrous Blanco Median sink complete with a matching Blanco Lever Mixer Tap – the perfect combination for modernising any kitchen. The new deep sink and draining board serves to add to the sense of depth and space that the kitchen’s new work surfaces have to offer.

Lighting was a major feature for a kitchen of this size and shape, as in order to make up for the narrow features and corners the room must be bathed in light without causing shadows or gloominess in any direction.

The My Beautiful Kitchen designed in some modern triangle lighting in a beautiful brushed stainless steel. As well as sending out a powerful white light, these lights are also low voltage, saving the Wylies that bit extra on their electricity bill. Modern recessed downlights were also chosen as the perfect task lighting, and a 4″ white electric fan.

The Wylies were delighted with their stunning new kitchen thanks to the hard work and dedication of the My Beautiful Kitchen team. There is a marked difference in the light and atmosphere of the kitchen now and it’s sure to be a kitchen the Wylies can enjoy for many years to come.
