OK, so they’re certainly a little bit brash and bold, and they are definitely big, but if you’ve got the room for one in your kitchen, then we think an American style fridge freezer is an essential.
These beauties could be described as the big daddies of the kitchen, becoming a real central point of great kitchen design, but did you know that they can also be gentle giants, too? That’s right, because they’re not the energy sapping monsters you might think that they would be.
And, although they are often bigger than conventional fridge freezers, if you currently are housing a separate fridge and freezer you’ll actually be saving on space width-wise.
So, we’ve come up with a few great reasons why we at My Beautiful Kitchen think that an American style fridge freezer could be just perfect for you.
Fridge Style
Let’s face it, conventional fridge freezers can be a little bit, well, plain. But the clever companies that design American style fridge freezers have really worked hard to make them stand out from the crowd. They have realised, you see, that the appliances are going to be a real focal point of your kitchen, almost something of a show-stopper. That’s why American style fridge freezers often look so good. You can even get them in a range of finishes, including ones with a glittery sheen which really catch the light (and get the party started).
Hotpoint has recently brought out their cracking take on an American style fridge freezer, with their Quadrio range. Coming in a number of colours, the Quadrios are curvy and sophisticated, yet is only 70cms wide (that’s just 10cms less than a standard width fridge freezer).
Functionality
There’s no doubt about it. American style fridge freezers don’t half pack a punch when it comes to providing for all the family. Got more than a few hungry mouths to feed? Not a problem. With enough shelves, compartments and boxes than you can shake a stick at, there is bound to be more than enough room for all of your food and drink. The perfect party host, the American style fridge freezer is also perfect for keeping those beers nicely chilled for your guests, while there’s bags of room to dedicate plenty of space for ice to go with the gin and tonics or wee dram.
What’s more, because there is so much room inside the fridge section, you won’t be cramming all sorts of food on top of each other. Take a look at the Samsung H Series, too. That’s got what they call a ‘soft touch beverage station’. Basically, it’s a smaller door on the main fridge door which can be opened easily to grab your most-used items in the fridge, for example milk or juice. That way, you don’t open the entire door fully and let cold air escape (and warmer air into the fridge), meaning your fridge works more effectively and more economically. Clever stuff!
Settings are often at the touch of a button, with eye-catching and stylish LED displays, plus there’s all sorts of things going on inside, such as folding trays (to ensure your bottles can stand up in the fridge, rather than tolling around on shelves), and LED lighting which ensures you’ll be able to see everything in there perfectly.
So, all in all, we thing the American style fridge freezers are a superb buy for most kitchens. As for price? Well, like any product, you can go as expensive as you can afford, but we think you’ll be surprised at how little a great model can cost.
