Pyroclean Is Hot Stuff!

Pyroclean Is Hot Stuff!

OK, hands up, who actually enjoys cleaning their oven?

Yes, I suspected as much. While there are a few of you with their hands up (are you gluttons for punishment), for the majority of us it’s a real chore. Think of all the money spent on cleaning products, all the hours of elbow grease you need to put in, the horrible brown sludge you have to soak up at the bottom of your oven afterwards, the chemicals and the time spent when you really could be doing something far nicer.

Wouldn’t it just be a lot easier if there were some magic way of the job doing itself? Some awesome invention that leaves the inside of your oven spotless in a matter of minutes?

Well, would you believe it… there actually is!

Introducing the Pyroletic Oven…the Self Cleaning Oven

Pyrolitic ovens are one of the latest must-haves for today’s kitchens.

Put very simply when the pyrolitic function is chosen on an oven, the inside temperature spirals to an incredible 500˚C for a set period – which is usually 90 minutes to two hours. That temperature burns off any residual food and grease that has been splattered inside your oven, leaving an ash, or carbon deposit, at the base of the oven, which you simply need to sweep away.

It really is as easy as that!

I know what you’re thinking, though, it sounds pretty dangerous to have something so hot. Don’t worry. It is incredibly safe. When the pyrolitic function is selected on ovens, the door locks itself automatically and only unlocks once the cycle is complete and everything has cooled down. So, there’s no danger of little inquisitive fingers opening the oven when it’s on full-blast.

But sure this is an expensive oven?

It doesn’t even cost that much to do, either. On average, running a pyrolitic cycle should cost no more than 40-50p. But think about how much time you save, and how much money you spend on cleaning products (or a professional cleaning service if it’s got so bad!).

This miracle invention was the brainchild of high-end appliance manufacturers De Dietrich. Believe it or not, the technology isn’t quite as new as you might think. In fact, the very first pyroclean ovens were launched by the firm in France…in 1968! Only just now becoming popular on a mass scale, plenty of manufacturers now offer pyrolitic ovens and you won’t even have to rob a bank to buy one.

Zanussi do a range of really affordable pyrolitic ovens, such as the ZOP37902, which comes in a range of finishes. Likewise, Hotpoint  have some excellent models and even Beko are on the pyrolitic bandwagon, with ovens such as the OIM22500XP. At the other end of the price range, though, are pyrolitic ovens such as the Smeg range cookers, or Siemens built in models (take a look maybe at the HB78GB590B). So, if you are looking to get your kitchen fitted with top of the range gadgets the self-cleaning oven is one heck of a good place to start.
