Solve Your Wine Worries

Solve Your Wine Worries

So, you’ve come in from a long, hard day at work. All you fancy is being able to relax, and opening a nice bottle of white wine but disaster strikes! You meant to make room for your bottle of white in the fridge, and left it on the worktop. Now, instead of being crisp and clean, it’s nowhere near the right temperature. Aarrggh!

You just can’t drink white wine if it’s not been chilled correctly.

And if you’re more of a red wine person, then your favourite bottle (or two, or three!) needs to be at the right temperature, too.

The exact correct temperature to keep wines stored is open to some debate, however, as a rough guide white wine usually at its best stored around 10˚C, while reds are best stored at between 15-18˚C and then allowed to warm slightly at the table. (Don’t say we don’t give you any great tips at My Beautiful Kitchen!)

So, what’s the best solution to the problem of storing wine? Well, it’s a wine cooler, or wine refrigerator incorporated into your kitchen design.

Now, long gone are the days when these little beauties are seen as a luxury item. You may have owned one in a previous kitchen, or spotted one at a friend’s house (after all, they are great for a party!).

The fact is, wine coolers are becoming more and more popular in today’s kitchens.

And what’s great about them, is there’s an abundance of shapes and sizes, so no matter what space you have to fill, there’s sure to be a wine cooler to fill it.

Partial to both red and white wine, but worried about it only having one temperature setting? Not a problem. Many models now come with ‘dual cool’ zones, meaning you can set the temperature in different parts of the unit, keeping your whites crisp and cool, while your reds remain at their best setting.

There’s a range of great designs, as well, meaning that it won’t stick out like a sore thumb whatever style of kitchen you currently have (or want to have).

From contemporary stainless steel, or black varieties, to built-in models (if you prefer to be a little more discreet with your drinks!), there’s something to suit.

And a great feature is the child-lock, to stop curious little fingers from seeing what’s inside.

Most have easy-to-use touch-setting controls, and the majority use halogen lighting inside, which really makes these units stand out from the crowd.

Think they can just be used for wine? Wrong? Wine cooler might be the common name, but they are great for keeping bottles of whatever your favourite tipple is, be it beer, champagne, or something softer, at the right temperature.

And that’s what makes them (and your home) the life and soul of the party!
