Sparkling Tips For Choosing A Dishwasher

Sparkling Tips For Choosing A Dishwasher

Getting the best fit for your appliances is paramount when it comes to designing a new kitchen.

Dishwashers are need a little extra attention as they come in lots of different shapes and sizes, but don’t worry one bit. At My Beautiful Kitchen we know everything there is to know about dishwashers and can help you get the fit, style and personality you’re after.

There are three main styles of dishwasher: freestanding, integrated  (those have a kitchen door fitted to them) or a semi-integrated model (still has a fitted kitchen door, but the control panel is on the front).

But if you haven’t got masses of room, then you could always consider a compact table top dishwasher, which will sit neatly on your work surface.

There are some key things to look out for, too:

Size Matters

Under counter dishwashers come in either a standard 60cm width or in a slimline 45cm width. Make sure you’ve got enough room for the model you want, as it’ll make installation so much easier. For integrated and semi-integrated models, it will affect the size of fascia door you need, but we’ll get to that in a moment.

Choose your brand carefully

While most of us have ideas about the brands we do and don’t like, there are plenty to choose from; all with their own individual perks. Hotpoint, for example, are by far the most popular brand as their quality, value for money and range of features is fantastic. You can get in touch with us at My Beautiful Kitchen if you like the look of Hotpoint as we have our own range of them on offer.

Pick features you’ll use

We’re not saying pick the simplest model, but what’s the use in buying features you aren’t going to need? Some ‘must haves’ are a Quick Wash and an Intensive Wash. They’ll be invaluable if you need the job doing fast, or you’ve just got some heavy stains to shift. Siemens models tend to offer a good balance of technology and functionality, so if you like a few extra bells and whistles to your dishwasher, keep an eye out for them.

Style is everything

With such a broad choice of colours, finishes and then the added option of what kind of door you might need to fit, getting the look right can have a big impact on your kitchen. The iconic Smeg models are a great example. Their retro feel can transform an entire space, so finding a look to complement your kitchen is definitely worth the effort.

Fitting the dishwasher into your kitchen

Putting the panels or fascias onto integrated models is a skill, no two ways about it. Some are complete doors, other include false drawers, and the most important thing to remember is that your appliance fits in naturally with your space. While all the manufacturers include instructions for fitting it yourself, it’s always worth spending a little extra and having your appliance installed by a professional.
