Tapping Into Taps
Tapping Into Taps
When it comes to kitchen taps, not many people give them a lot of thought when planning their kitchen. Yet they can make a big difference in how easy your life is in the kitchen. So plumping for a pricey kitchen sink without giving any thought to the taps, and how you’ll use them, could be a false economy.
At My Beautiful Kitchen, we can provide traditionally themed taps, perfect for a farmhouse style kitchen, modern mixer taps for a more contemporary kitchen, or something that lies in-between. Of course, your choice will largely depend on the type of kitchen and sink you opt for.
Types of tap
There are some stunningly attractive designs out there and you can find the best at My Beautiful Kitchen. And if it’s practicality you’re looking for, well, we’ve got that covered too. Here are some of key factors to consider when shopping for your taps:
Monoblock Single Handle – These taps extend from a single opening in the sink with one handle that adjusts for water temperature. Very practical and can look great in an old fashioned design such as a farmhouse kitchen.
Monoblock Dual Handle – Again these taps come out of a single opening in the sink, but this time there are two separate controllers for hot and cold water.
Deck Dual Handle – This assembly has separate stems for hot and cold, concealed within a cover plate, but utilise a single central spout.
Pillar Dual Handle – This option is very similar to the deck dual handle, but comes without the cover plate that is normally flush with the sink ledge. Here, the faucet is raised with hot and cold stems serving as legs. These can look very stylish in the right kitchen.
Sprayer – As the name suggests, this is a practical fitting handy for doing dishes and can come with both one and two handles for controlling hot and cold water.
Spout Sprayer – An adaptation of the above. In this instance, the sprayer is part of the central spout and not a separate device and can operate like a traditional spout or be pulled out for spray use.
Wall mounted – Available in single or dual handle versions, these are attached to the wall instead of the sink. Obviously this will require wall routing for the plumbing and possible redecoration.
Ask an expert – We understand as well that not everyone can afford to fork out for the most expensive designer taps, especially if you’re spending a lot of cash on a kitchen, so for taps that are reliable, functional, long lasting and fit in with your chosen kitchen design, simply talk to one of the experts in the My Beautiful Kitchen team.
