Earlier this year, top celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal unveiled a new set of kitchen gadgets in his new Sage range.  These state-of-the-art kitchen gadgets include such items as a fully automatic tea maker, an espresso machine and a variety of blenders and juicers all designed to make your life in the kitchen that little bit easier and more interesting to boot.

These fantastic accessories are sure to help you create your own masterpieces in the kitchen, but they’re definitely not cheap! However, looking over the elegant range in its strong, shiny stainless steel, it got us thinking here at My Beautiful Kitchen about our favourite kitchen gadgets.

You may not be able to have them all, but there are always one or two gadgets that are necessary to turn your kitchen work from a hard slog into a true delight. We picked out our favourite kitchen gadgets… the ones we just couldn’t live without!

The food processor:  

A food processor really is a dream come true for the modern kitchen, taking painstaking hours out of your food preparation and giving you more time for the important things in life.

Depending on what size processor you want and your budget, you can get excellent food processors that are capable of everything, from chopping your vegetables to mixing up the perfect hummus, or even mixing dough for when you want to make your own bread or pizza base!

It’s possible to be a true master chef in your own kitchen with one of these beauties taking all the hassle out of the mix.

A good food processor should make chopping, slicing and dicing a thing of the past as it takes care of it all, and if you’re feeling adventurous you can even impress your friends and family by using it to make your own ice-cream!

The Microplane grater:

Ah yes, the humble kitchen grater. Quite frankly, it’s the number one kitchen gadget that no one can afford to be without, and a good grater will see you through any kitchen conundrum.

However, we think that a Microplane grater is, quite simply, the only grater worth having in your kitchen.

Its clever design means that regular grating of cheese, onions, citrus zests or even chocolate shavings is ridiculously easy, but what makes this grater stand out from the crowd is that you can get attachments for grating trickier vegetables such as ginger and garlic, so a separate grater is not even necessary.

A good grater such as a Microplane grater will stand the test of time in the dishwasher and should remain sharp for years to come.
