Choosing Your Perfect Gas Boiler
At My Beautiful Kitchen not only can we supply & install your new kitchen but we can also help you choose the perfect boiler for your home and install it as part of your kitchen project giving you complete peace of mind and only one contractor to deal with.
There are several different options when it comes to choosing a gas boiler, and each has various pros and cons which all need to be considered before you decide which to invest in.
Now Let’s take a look at the different types…
Traditional Boiler
The traditional boiler is essentially a cast iron heat exchanger used to heat water within the home (similar to a gas burner under a kettle).
It has two big advantages in that it runs quietly and that its controls are simple and easy to understand – ideally for those of you who are not ‘boiler savvy’.
It also comes in a range of sizes so you are very likely to find one perfectly suited to your property. On the downside, the traditional boilers can use a high amount of fuel.
Combination Boiler
The combination or ‘combi’ boiler produces hot water for your heating and for your taps.
A major pro of the combi is that the lack of tanks is very space-saving, which is ideal for smaller houses or flats that that may not have a great deal of free space. We have been supplying a lot of these gas boilers in Glasgow recently.
On the downside, combi boilers have intricate inner workings and if they break down, can be fairly pricy to repair.
Condensing Boiler
This type of boiler is fairly modern and is designed so that water returning from the heating system is used to cool the flue gases (extracting the heat that is usually lost). Condensing boilers are significantly more efficient than other boilers and are fast becoming a popular choice amongst homeowners.
A minor con of this system is that you will need a fan-assisted flue.
Back Boiler
This boiler can run on gas, oil or solid fuel, making it widely accessible for many households.
One of the main advantages of this boiler is that it has a ‘cosy’ look and feel when it runs on solid fuel. This makes it more ascetically-pleasing than other boiler types. The downside of the back boiler is that it requires a natural-draught open flue.
Hope this Helps and feel free to get in touch if you need any more help.
